Crew Descriptions!
Production Stage Manager- carries out director’s vision for the show. Works closely with both cast and crew to make the production run smoothly. Runs shows during performances. Is picked by director on a show-by-show basis
Assistant Stage Manager- assists stage manager with responsibilities. May help run production meetings and rehearsals. May be in charge of backstage area during performances.
Lighting- works with the director to design, and program all necessary lighting for the show. May help focus and adjust lights prior to show. Also operates light board during all shows.
Spotlight Operator- controls follow spot during show, especially musicals.
Sound- works with director to find and prepare all necessary sounds for the show and walk-in/walk-out music. Also operates sound board during all shows.
Set construction- works with power tools to assemble all scenic elements of the set prior to the show.
Set painting- uses different painting techniques to paint the scenery prior to the show.
Front of House- makes sure that the house is ready before any
audience members arrive. Passes out programs and makes sure the house always remains safe. Cleans house before and after shows. May provide assistance to any audience members with wheelchairs or other disabilities/concerns.
Publicity- organizes and implements all advertisement and promotion for the production.
Props- makes or acquires any necessary props prior to the show. Is in charge of props table and makes sure all props are working and accounted for before, during, and after shows.
Costumes- assists the with all aspects of costuming the show. May involve cleaning and organizing in the costume storage area, assisting with moving costumes in and out of the storage area for each show, assisting with distribution of costume pieces and return of costume pieces from the actors, ensuring that all costume pieces are accounted for and in good condition at the end of each show, assisting actors with any required quick changes and any other costume related needs of the show.
Makeup- assists with all aspects of makeup and hair for the show. May include applying make-up, styling hair, or assisting with any makeup and or hair changes during the show.
Stagehand- maintains safety of the backstage area during all performances. Cleans stage at start of call-time and is responsible for all set changes during the course of a performance or rehearsal. Returns set to “pre-show” setting after every performance. Will be designated specific duties as the show progresses.
Flymen- operates fly system during shows under stage manager’s direction. Ensures safety and execution of anything flying in or out during the production.
